AmCham hosts talks on FDI in priority sectors

The American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Bangladesh has organised a webinar titled ‘FDI in priority sectors: Value Added Agriculture Processing, Digital Ecosystems and Green Capital’ on Sept 6. HPM’s Hon. Adviser Mr. Salman Fazlur Rahman MP joined as chief guest.

BIDA chief Md. Sirazul Islam, who joined as special guest, discussed the potential of Bangladesh’s agro-processing sector, which currently contributes 1.7 per cent of GDP. “Bangladesh has considerable knowledge in this sector.

To improve its prospects, we should work to reduce post harvesting loss, establish trust in supply chain relationships and ensure easier access to credit for small businesses,” said the BIDA chief.

The development of a special focus on Green Financing in FDI promotion is something very important that must be considered, he added. He also believed digital ecosystem development should be facilitated to enhance potential for better business offerings.
