BIDA strengthens Bangladesh’s single-window platform for easy, fast and transparent investment entry
BIDA has signed MoUs with five more government agencies to pave the way for integration of 11 new investor services with its online One Stop Service (OSS).
The MoUs were signed with the Security Services Division (SSD) of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Office of the Chief Controller of Imports and Exports (CCI&E), Chattogram Development Authority (CDA), Dhaka Electric Supply Company (DESCO) and Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) during a ceremony organised in partnership with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) on Jan 15.
BIDA’s OSS currently provides 18 G2B, data-enabled services from four agencies -- BIDA, the Registrar of Joint Stock Companies and Firms (RJSC), the National Board of Revenue (NBR) and the Sonali Bank. The work to integrate the trade license service of Dhaka North City Corporation, Dhaka South City Corporation and Chattogram City Corporation is in progress.
“We are dedicated to the delivery of effective and efficient One Stop Service as part of our overall effort improve the investment climate of Bangladesh,” said BIDA Executive Chairman Md. Sirazul Islam. “These services are integral for starting a business, so by strengthening the OSS we can provide easy, fast and transparent entry of investment into Bangladesh”.
“I am thrilled because the five agencies with whom we have signed MoUs have taken many significant steps for digitization. The OSS integration process will start immediately, so these 11 new services can be made available within the shortest possible time. We are working closely with our partners to deliver a total 154 services of 35 agencies through the OSS,” said the BIDA chief.
Pranesh Ranjan Sutradhar, Chief Controller, CCI&E, Md. Munim Hassan, Joint Secretary (Immigration-1), Security Services Division, MoHA, Tahera Ferdows Begum, Secretary, CDA, Saiful Islam Azad, Secretary, BPDB and SM Zamil Hussain, Deputy General Manager (Company Secretariat), DESCO signed the MoUs on behalf of their organization.
