Ambassadors of Sweden, Norway and Denmark meet BIDA chief
BIDA Executive Chairman Md. Sirazul Islam has invited more investment from Sweden, Norway and Denmark during a meeting with the Ambassadors of the Scandinavian nations.
Swedish Ambassador H.E. CharlottaSchlyter, Norwegian Ambassador H.E. SidselBleken and Danish Ambassador H.E.Winnie Petersen paid the new BIDA executive chairman a courtesy visiton Sunday.
During the talks, the ambassadors expressed their joint interest in the activities of BIDAand offered to work closely with it to promote more investment to Bangladesh.
Several matters including Ease of Doing Business reforms,BIDA’s online One-Stop Service, online visa recommendation and fast issuance of work permit were discussed in the meeting. The Ambassadors hoped BIDA would continue to play a proactive role to ensure speedy andtransparent services while emphasizing on policy predictability.
“Since taking on the role of heading BIDA, I have been trying to get a deeper perspective into the issues at hand,” said BIDA chief Md. Sirazul Islam. “As Bangladesh’s principal Investment Promotion Agency, we work with the Government to ensure a stable regulatory regime for investors.”
“Two team at BIDA are currently working to speed up Doing Business reforms and to make OSS more effective. In our efforts to improve overall investor services, we are welcoming the voices from the private sector.
“We are hoping that investors from Scandinavian countries, who have long been our partners, will soon be able to enjoy the facilities we will extend to them through our hard work and come forward to invest in Bangladesh,” he said.
